1 Peter - Fixing Your Hope (8 messages)
When Peter stood outside the High Priest's house on the night Jesus was betrayed, arrested and put on trial, he undoubtedly experienced the lowest point in his life. Not even his eventual martyrdom compared to this moment.
Quite the opposite in fact. When Peter was first accused of being a friend of Jesus, he replied "I don't know him" (Luke 22:57). Then came the moment when the rooster crowed, Peter caught the eye of Jesus and the full horror of his denial hit home.
We're told "he went outside and wept bitterly". Even that sounds like an understatement.
But God, in his mercy, had a rescue plan for Peter. The resurrected Jesus would graciously reinstate Peter by asking him to feed the flock and that's what Peter steadfastly did for the rest of his life, gladly giving it up.
This humble fisherman, who always seemed to put his foot in it, became the first Christian evangelist that day at Pentecost. Later in life, he took to writing words of encouragement to the Churches.
Join us in this eight part series as we look at the first two chapters of his first letter. It presents us with a holy God who has redeemed us through "the precious blood of Christ" and has given us "an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade".
