2 Samuel - The early days of the Monarchy (3 messages)

David was an amazing man. We have a tendency to focus on his few major failings (and they were pretty big!), but this man went through more than you or I could cope with.

By the time the way had been cleared for David to take the throne, he was still just 30 years old. That doesn't sound too unusual until you sit down and read how much he had been through up until that time.

From the time of his anointing by Samuel to his ascension, David lived 20 dramatic years. Being a shepherd, fighting the enemy, running from Saul, hiding in caves and then sorting out the mess between his own and Saul's army commanders.

At this point in time, I have only done three messages in this series, but I plan to go back to it and finish it off sometime soon, God willing. Who knows why I called it off after only three. Looking at it again, I want to hear the rest of the story myself!

It's a terrific narrative which once again reminds me that the best book to read really is the Bible.

"Believe God's word and power more than you believe your own feelings and experiences. Your Rock is Christ, and it is not the Rock which ebbs and flows, but your sea."
