Is Jesus Lord or is he last? If I understand the Bible correctly, Jesus is either one or the other. You cannot claim Jesus as Lord and then push him to one side. Both cannot be a reality.

In this sermon series we look at an issue quite central to Christianity: allowing Jesus to be number one in your life. It's about priorities, it's about direction and it's about what sort of Christian you are.

We look at John's gospel, a little of Matthew's and a fair bit of Isaiah's work because so much of it is used to introduce us to the person of Jesus at his birth and at the commencement of his ministry.

The long suffering folk at Church who originally sat through this series tell me it is just what they have been looking for to give to family & friends who are just out there on the fringe: perhaps saved, but certainly out of fellowship and not walking close to Him.

In a few cases, their target audience was close family members who are not believers at all. That surprised me because I must confess I did not have non-believers in mind as I prepared this series.

It was really designed to be a simple, layman's explanation of why it is crucial to make your priorities in life line up with the ones God has drawn up for you. Perhaps there are surprises in here for all of us.

I hope this will be an encouragement to anyone who really needs to discover the Biblical Jesus once more. May they be confronted with the reality of his claims and may they find peace with Him.

Christian Quotes

"Answering a student's question, 'Will the heathen who have not heard the Gospel be saved?' thus, 'It is more a question with me whether we, who have the Gospel and fail to give it to those who have not, can be saved.'"
