Samuel - The Hope of a Nation (4 messages)

The book of 1 Samuel takes us back to a time in Israel's history when there was never a dull moment. These were dark days for the nation. God had dramatically rescued the nation from slavery in Egypt, given them a new land and his laws. All should have been well with the new nation, but it was not.

The generation of people who conquered the land under Joshua had died out and their descendants had fallen away from worship of the one true God and had become idol worshippers in many cases. God's judgement was about to fall.

But while the nation slipped further and further into sin, there stood a few individuals who refused to compromise. In this short series we will meet them and those who would have them turn from the living God.

It's dramatic, it's nasty, it's frustrating and it's bloodthirsty, but it's all part of God's plan to bring into the world one of the most famous men of the Old Testament.
